Spammers offering to write articles for website really wanting links

From time to time, I receive offers from people I’ve no connection with, offering to write articles for my websites. While this might seem a real fine service – with no monies required – these are really about having links in the articles.

And no, these cannot be “nofollow” links, ie telling Google etc to pretty much ignore them; instead, might dilute the little “link juice” my sites have, or even reduce their – albeit low – perceived quality to Google etc.

Here’s one such email request; notice that it utterly failed to even get the website name remotely correct:

Hey there,

I wanted to reach out and see if en_GB accepts guest post contributions or link insertion in existing posts? If so, I’d love to hear more about your guidelines and any specific topics of interest.

Thank you for your time, and I’m looking forward to your response.

Regards,

James Hannah

I ignored this, but a week later had a follow up request; I replied:

What is en_GB?

Not from AI, this email of yours, more AS, where S is for Stupid.

Maybe you can write about that. And no, no links.
