- From around 15 years ago, I and too few others have argued that highly pathogenic [mainly to birds] bird flu is not spread by wild birds, but is created within industrial poultry farming and spread by poultry trade. Better called poultry flu.A major reason: dead ducks don’t fly.But, wild birds a convenient scapegoat for the trade’s many problems; and very little money in conservation, very large amounts on side of poultry trade [to my mind, some “conservationists” bought off by funding from the trade and related Food and Agricultural Organisation].Wild birds first blamed in Hong Kong I believe; in situation where the waterbirds were captive, or resident, with no migrants identified.Anyway, this news just in; see if it helps at all.
