I started using Joomla's predecessor, Mambo, in spring 2004; it was my first experience with a content management system, and I was mighty impressed - albeit there were plenty of quirks, much to learn and do to get it running nicely. I built one site entirely using Mambo. Later, added Mambo to this site, which I'd till then built with "regular" html pages, mostly using Dreamweaver.

Since migrated both sites to Joomla! - as this seems the stronger cms since the two forked, with more active development (not ideal - for instance, core team don't seem keen on SEO; but Mambo lately promoted a new release that, it turned out, wasn't ready for full on use).

Spent quite a bit of time doing this, and found I had to again dig around for info and make changes to get it running (almost) as I'd like.

Here, then, is a small collection of articles on my experiences with using Mambo and Joomla!

Though I've migrated both sites that used Mambo to Joomla, info here may be helpful if you are using - or considering using - Mambo.
