Allan Zeman reads many South China Morning Post

Allan Zeman, quoted in full page advert for the SCMP on 14 March 2007:
"I am a faithful reader of the South China Morning Post. It is by far my favorite newspaper and I read many in a day..."
A letter writer later picked up on his spelling - using "favorite". But I'd like to know, what did the chap mean saying "I read many in a day"?
